SecurityKat_Tumba - July 28, 2022

CBK Date: July 28, 2022 Hello, everyone. James Katumba securitykat_tumba here with some unsettling updates from my journey at the company. You may recall my previous posts, expressing growing concerns about the company's activities. Well, today I had a sit-down with my manager to discuss some of these questions that have been dkeeping me up at night. In a veiled conversation filled with corporate jargon and half-explanations, my manager tried to alleviate some of my concerns. I was told that the company is involved in multiple 'high-stakes projects' and that certain aspects are 'above my pay grade.' The implication seemed to be that the company's actions are all above board, just not something that every employee needs to know about. While the meeting aimed to clarify things, it only added another layer of confusion and suspicion. The doublespeak didn't go unnoticed, but my manager did emphasize that the company has been serving the community for years. I...

Reevaluating? Date: April 22, 2022 Hello, it's James. I find myself at a crossroads. The gaps between what the company says and what it does have widened too much for my comfort. I'm beginning to question the ethics of continuing to work here. As a father and a future husband, I wonder what legacy I'm leaving for my loved ones. Is this job worth the moral ambiguity and the strain on my conscience? It's time for some tough decisions.

Where I work Date: April 30, 2021 James Katumba reporting in. I hate to say it, but the joy I initially found has evaporated. The secrecy has escalated, and I've even started to see some people I recognize from my security days at clubs, but they're not here for tech recycling. What exactly is this company involved in? The weight of these unanswered questions is affecting both my work and my time at home with my family.Trying to remain happy and find new hobbies and surround myself with happy things. Not easy \

Questions Sleepless Date: September 5, 2020 Hi everyone, James here. My job at the company is becoming increasingly puzzding. I've noticed an uptick in secretive deliveries and non-disclosure agreements among certain teams. I don't know if COVID has something to do with it but it's a far cry from the transparent and community-oriented image the company projects. It' getting harder to focus on the job when so many questions are swirling in my mind.

I almost got fired today

Date: Feb 15, 2020 Someone at the company must be looking into me. After my last blog post complaining about stupid work stuff, my boss called me and said if I wanted to come back to work tomorrow I better delete the blog post. I did not mean to do anything wrong I was just typing my thoughts. Honestly I feel poorly about not thinking when I posted the blog, but what's done is done. I deleted it.

New Job Date: August 31, 2019 Hello everyone, James Katumba. I've recently started a new job at a tech recycling company. It's a welcome change of pace and scenery. The work seems straightforward, and the company has an excellent reputation for community service. I DO NOT like my boss. She is always on my ass, telling me to fix whats broke, complaining all day long. Esther needs to leave this place. She emailed my on my birthday. I almost wrote back, glad I waited until I was calm. Look at what this devil woman speaks to me. Staying strong! No one said it was going to be easy :)

James here! James here

An Unexpected Twist Date: June 15, 2016 Hello again, James here. I have some less-than-stellar news to share with you all today. You might remember how I was talking up my security work in the lively clubs and events around Kyengera. I took pride in my job, in the balance it offered between challenges and community connection. Well, it seems like the tides are changing, and not just for me. The economy in our area is taking a hit, affecting small businesses and local hangouts. A wave of layoffs has hit several establishments, including the very places I've been securing for years. The pinch of financial constraints has led to my layoff, as owners can't afford the same level of security anymore. Being laid off is a tough pill to swallow. It's a reality many of us are grappling with in these challenging economic times. The job not only gave me a sense of purpose but also helped me provide for my family. Now, like so many others, I find myself in a position where I have to loo...

"Life as a Security Guard in Kyengera: A Balancing Act" Date: January 15, 2016 Hello, everyone! James Katumba here. Working as a security guard for local clubs and events in Kyengera has been an interesting experience, to say the least. The nightlife here is vibrant, and the sense of community is strong. It's not always easy managing crowds and ensuring safety, but someone has to do it, right? It's all part of a day's work and it helps put food on the table for my family.

"Security Never Sleeps, and Neither Will I: Ready to Take the Industry by Storm" November 5, 2005 Hello, everyone! James Katumba here, and today is a day of triumph and a leap toward a bright future. I've just graduated with a Certificate in Security Management from the Uganda Security Training Institute. Words can't express how thrilled and proud I am to have achieved this milestone. You see, in a world filled with uncertainty, one thing remains constant: the need for security. Whether it's safeguarding a local club or a multinational corporation, security is a job that never goes obsolete. As long as there are people and properties, there will be a need to protect them. It's an evergreen industry, and I'm all set to be a part of it. What's next, you ask? Well, I'm not just entering the security sector; I plan to take it by storm. Armed with new skills, updated knowledge, and a well-rounded understanding of both physical security and risk mana...
